A Rope of Pain

Poem 01

You had beckoned me to come today in your same familiar way
That bids me hasten to your side and as I do you open wide
To take a bite of my poor flesh that has gone stale no longer fresh
As it had been not long ago for days of torture made it so
Why press these pins within my skin why pick the wounds apart again
That will not heal no matter what can you not see this mouth’s sewn shut
As I do sit upon a chair so stoically I’m sitting there
To be the wide eyed one with wings that you have said makes your heart sing
I long to see the noon day sun I long for green I long to run
From you my captor you my king yet I am numb from everything
From window’s view I see the trees upon the lawn that beckon me
To smell their fragrant blossom there to grab a breath of springtime air
Yet you persist with mundane words and half of them they go unheard
For my mind flees to mountains high to clouds that drift in the blue skies
That have eluded my lonely days yes I am lonely in so many ways
For you have gone the you I knew and now I haven’t got a clue
As to why I sit and mope for I am dangling from a rope of pain
