He Carved Her Name

Poem 03

He carved her name on a cold stone heart

Inside the darkness of his trembling soul

Etching the letters as each one left a spark

Of rainbow color filling him up so full

As teardrops splashed upon the canvas

Of his world that was once so gray

The watercolors of emotion

Danced along taking him away

To a world that was like no other

Surpassing places he’d been before

And all the feelings locked deep within

Dared not linger anymore

Excitement overtook him

As a song came with the breeze

Upon his lips there came a lyric

That somehow left his mind at ease

A serenade to tell the heavens

Up above of new-found peace

That in the bosom of an angel

He had embraced his sweet release
