Betrayal’s Wound

This time the cut’s too deep

And betrayal’s wound won’t heal

Our promises are torn

Beyond repair I feel

She led you to a place

That I had dreamed to go

I saw it on your face

And I didn’t want to know

So I sat in disbelief

Still holding to my dreams

Denial is a thief

It leads one to extremes

Wasting precious time

And causing so much pain

I believed your love was mine

But my belief was all in vain

Today you proved me wrong

It’s my turn to sit and cry

Now I know I don’t belong

And I’ve no right to wonder why

This time the cut’s too deep

And betrayal’s wound won’t heal

Our promises are torn

Beyond repair I feel
