For Just a Time

You say that you’re my friend

But I don’t want to be

I cannot comprehend

You’re not in love with me

After the way we touched

The way you held me close

And looked into my eyes

Tell me how can it be

That it was just a fantasy

And all because you needed me

For just a time

But I’ll be fine

The attraction has dissipated

You are not the long awaited

No you never were

So I’ll leave it up to her

To worry about your pain

It’s your loss and it’s my gain

But I can’t see it in the rain

Of all these tears

I wish I could

And all the time that I’ve invested

Could be erased and redirected

Into someone worth my while
