Delusion

Silence is illusion for one who seeks to find

Solace from the misery that thunders in her mind

Whispering the reasons she can’t deserve this day

Sent screaming to the corners where she wouldn’t like to stay

Wide-eyed disenchantment is a solitary friend

Tapping on the windows that it’s time for this to end

Pacing, ever pacing, down long corridors of dread

She’s faced with the conclusion that nothing lies ahead

Hopeless indecision is twirling her about

Inside a vacant ballroom, figures scream and shout

Distorted bits and pieces fly about the place

And as the lady dances she studies each one’s face

But finds no recollection for they all seem quite the same

Not a piece of this puzzle will fit into her frame

Dizzied by the madness, she grabs a velvet pillow

Drops down to her knees, weeping like a willow

Begging for the stillness and respite from her pain

Rocking, ever rocking, she has neither one to gain

The world has gone away; she’s floating on the edge

In and out of darkness, she teeters on the ledge

Wishing for the wings she held within her trance

Wanting to ascend upon her final dance
