Numb

Once again, I defer to slumber

Wishing I were resting under

A blanket of assurance

That when I wake

A brand new day

Would not find me

In the same way

As I am tonight

Nothing is alright

I fear to close my weary eyes

Just to rouse and realize

Another day has come

Leaving me as numb

As I feel now
