Used to Be

Used to Be

I used to be the one

You’d tell your secrets to

But now I am the enemy

You sink your claws into

The wind just up and carried

All our dreams away

I’m torn to shreds

Crying over all the yesterdays

Filled with making plans

For future years of bliss

In all my wild imaginings

I’d not imagined this

I used to be the one

You’d run to in the night

Now everything that used to be

Will never be alright

I said I’d always be

Right there by your side

But you mislaid

The plans I’d made

And even though I tried

It never was enough

To satisfy your need

Nothing made you happy

‘Til you made your baby bleed

I used to be your lover

Your confidant and friend

Now I’m filled with discontent

And this has got to end
