White Wings

White Wings

Hidden just from view

Watching in the corners

I catch a glimpse of you

Staring through my soul

You figure every move

Methodically with purpose

To make me feel the fool

As I rise to pirouette

Tethered by your strings

Gilded with your brush strokes

Covered in white wings

The shadow of me burns

Ashes on your forehead

As your angel turns

The hours on the wall

Into extinguished flames

The memory still lingers

Upon the lips of lovers

Whose salty tears still fall

You drew a breath of wind

Inhaled a golden memory

And tasted my sweet flesh

So free and unconfined

I lay with you each night

Surging o’er your body

Searing scars of ecstasy

Burnt within your mind
