Upon a moonless evening
Within the candle’s glow
I drank from a hand
That held a golden chalice
Filled with crimson wine
The icon of a fusion
Between the flesh and blood
Within each restless corner
As petals from the roses
Groped to greet the dawn
Sooty ashes flew
To wipe away the memory
Of etchings drawn to favor
A summons of devotion
