Fledgling

Fledgling

Far beyond the lover you aspire yourself to be

My darling, my immortal, then again

I dare not speak what my mind whispers

As I assess the rough texture of your hands

Against this fledgling’s down

You caress and rock my body to and fro

With ache and passion, I surrender

As I give to you each breath

I exhale with pleasure as I near each tiny death

Only to rise inside your eyes so filled with stars
