The Cherry Tree

So sweet the cherry wine
And fragile is her feather
Trembling in his hand
Then floating in his mind
The mile had been too long
The year is nearly over
So sad the songs she sang
To bind with strings of love
Yet love is not enough
To set her captive free
Entangled with the branches
Of the cherry tree
Aside his feathered friends
Who sing the same sad song
How did they begin
And where did they go wrong
