My Love is Broken

My Love is Broken

You reach to touch me

Then quickly pull away

It strips me of my self-esteem

When you turn in dismay

I held you on a pedestal

I thought you were the one

To end my years of famine

But the famine’s just begun

My love is broken

Ease has turned blood red

Leaving me in poverty

Upon this hardwood bed

Seeking a solution

For my hopes and dreams

Lie crushed as is my heart

No, nothing’s as it seems

I am so famished

For just one touch of you

I must embrace my anger

Oh, what one touch can do
