I Mourn Your Love

I Mourn Your Love

I am a sparrow

Inside your palm

Exposed to risk

This beating heart

That suffers loss

And when I dream

I find your face

Inside the bows

Of silver rain

And then I wake

Only to find

The dismal gray

Of my own shadow

An empty place

Where for a time

My heart’s elation

Had danced with me

When once my soul

Was filled with song

For you my love
