Year of Lament

Year of Lament

I escort you out
And the memories fly
In flocks of foreboding
That stab at my soul
With wounds of dismay
Resolution begins
This year of lament
I bow in defeat
As I ponder each step
Chanting a name
That now turns to dust
Their wings beat the wind
As you fly from my head
And soar from the trees
Your imprint they bore
But carry no more
The last leaf has fallen
In hope’s tender hush
And though I am crushed
I usher away
Each dream and the days
That I’ve wasted

    • Thank you very much dear Anders. I’m not so certain that very many people understand my poetry. However, as long as it means something to someone, it’s well worth the while.

I do appreciate your support. Happy new year. xx
