The Season

The Season

I embrace the season

When lovers fell as leaves

Burnished by their passion

Savoring the harvest

Of honey on their tongues

And all around the music

Of  laughter filled the air

Summoning sweet wine

To quench their thirst

And I embrace the season

Counting one-by-one

Each breath I held

While waiting there alone

With wild anticipation

To feel you close to me

And no intention

That I’d ever let you go
