Milk & Honey

Oh my love

I no longer sorrow in your absence

But rejoice in your memory

As you flow through my mind

As milk and honey to my sustenance

Lift your sweet eyes from prayer

I assure you I am there

Imprinting on your heart my sacred vow

As in the long ago till now

It is whispered in the corners of my mind

I look for you and find that everything is bliss

And all that I have missed

Is the touch of your strong hand

Oh my love

How could I ever sorrow in your absence

When rejoicing in the splendor that you bring

While I am possessed to cry

With milk and honey on my mind

The tears subside within the hour of my joy

After the Fall

After the Fall

Why does each breath feel so painful
Inside these trembling captive walls
Holding a heart that beats in stillness
I scarce can move after the fall
A vow was whispered so sincerely
And I embraced you with urgency
As a mother inhales her infant
Your sweet fragrance infuses me
I touched your soul and held you gently
Inside the hollow of my hand
I kissed your mouth oh so intently
I knew your love you were my man
Deep in your eyes I saw a shadow
That cast a darkness over me
And I no longer was your angel
Nor the queen I used to be
Pinioned wings can never fly
Through the heavens up above
A fallen angel deprived of courage
Lies here barren afraid to love
For every breath feels so painful
Inside these trembling captive walls
Holding a heart that beats in stillness
I scarce can move after the fall

Imprint

Imprint

I want your imprint on my flesh

And your solemn vow ’til death

To follow me in passion’ s bliss

My sweet lover, take this kiss

Embrace me, feel the thunderous beat

Inside a chest, so incomplete

Without yours echoing along

I need your love to keep me strong

Come lie with me in fields of green

Where winter snows are blossoming

The springtime bud to summer flower

If but to find a splendid hour

Well-lived and worth remembering

While we inhale the breath of spring

And then when autumn leaves have gone

The memories I’ll rely upon

Will be the splendour of the day

You took my breath and heart away

Imprinting me with fragrant flowers

As we made love for hours and hours

Immense Emotion Slowly Seeps

Immense Emotions Slowly Seep

Immense emotion slowly seeps

From a puncture dripping pain

His absence causes my soul to weep

Despite the promise that I keep

In fear he’ll not return again

Immense emotion slowly seeps

Into these eyes that long to see

His face within the gentle rain

His absence causes my soul to weep

ith suffering so wide and deep

Into this heart where love still reigns

Immense emotions slowly seep

To seal the promise that I keep

And gently heal the aching pain

That caused my anguished soul to weep

Commitments he has vowed to keep

While walking in the sun again

Immense emotions slowly seep

No more absence – ne’er to weep

Narration:

Neglected

Sensuous Photo by Zhang Jingna

I had decided you’d remember

My special touch along your skin

Not even once did I consider

That you’d forget – but then again

I’d neglected to persuade you

No other love could fill my space

I didn’t reinforce the issue

You found me easy to replace

By slipping her inside the covers

Her head lies easy on your chest

She now listens to the heartbeat

Of the man that I know best

I sit alone and I remember

The special moments that we shared

And I wonder if you miss me

Or realize how much I care

Does she love you as completely

Or as deeply as I do

Is she just a sweet distraction

To ease the pain you’re going through

I took for granted you’d remember

The way it felt inside my love

But somehow dear you have forgotten

Or perhaps I am unworthy of

The whispered vow to be together

And hold each other ‘til the end

It was decided that forever

We would be lovers my best friend

Who do I turn to with my longing

Where do I run in my despair

I am so empty I’m so hollow

I call your name and you’re not there

I had decided you’d remember

My special touch along your skin

Not even once did I consider

That you’d forget – but then again

NEAR TO HIS LIPS

 John William Waterhouse

NEAR TO HIS LIPS I HUMBLY BOW

SO NOT TO WAKE FROM GENTLE SLEEP

BUT HASTE TO TAKE AS TIME ALLOWS

MY LOVE AWAITS BEFORE ME NOW

WITHIN THE WATCH THE ANGELS KEEP

NEAR TO HIS LIPS I HUMBLY BOW

I SOFTLY KISS HIS FACE AND BROW

THAT I MAY FILL THIS VOID SO DEEP

BUT HASTE TO TAKE AS TIME ALLOWS

MY LOVE REPOSES ‘NEATH THE BOUGH

WHERE THE TENDER VINES DO CREEP

NEAR TO HIS LIPS I HUMBLY BOW

AND IN THIS MOMENT I DO VOW

TO KISS HIS LIPS YET WHILE HE SLEEPS

BUT HASTE TO TAKE AS TIME ALLOWS

MY FINEST OFFERING I ENDOW

FLOWING AS I SOFTLY WEEP

NEAR TO HIS LIPS I HUMBLY BOW

BUT HASTE TO TAKE AS TIME ALLOWS

Agony

Concealed inside

This flesh and bone

Lay all my grief

And the alone

I carry

I’ve swallowed

Such a bitter pill

That I have downed

Against my will

Oh I am drowning

I cannot breathe

I’ve been deceived

I am so full

Of disbelief

That you’ve gone

And taken all

My hope away

Scraped my heart clean

Of yesterday’s

Sweet promise

There is no vow

There’s nothing now

I’m hollow

As I swallow

Gulps of agony

Gladiator

Death of a Gladiator by Jean Simon Berthelemy, 1773 – Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA

Elation sweet elation is a gem encrusted sword
With all that sparkles brightly never easily ignored
If I had only gazed upon the treasure plunged in bone
Rather than desired all that glitters for my own
I’d be safe to wander in the blanket of the mist
Than to be imprisoned by the things I can’t resist
I want to be so valiant and equipped toward the fight
With head held high I vow to die in choosing what is right
On to the arena toward the foe behind my shield
Lured by all temptation I’ll not bow and I won’t yield
Although I bleed through gaping wounds worthy of a slave
I must contend until the end a gladiator brave

Promises

A PROMISE IS A CONVICTION THAT I AGAIN WILL NEVER MAKE
BECAUSE THE VOW OF LOVE I GAVE WAS A GODDAMN MISTAKE
I PLACED MY HEART WITHIN YOUR HANDS ENTRUSTING IT TO YOU
YOU LOST YOUR GRIP AND LET IT SLIP AND TORE MY HEART IN TWO
THE PLEDGE I GAVE TO HONOR YOU FOR ALL MY DAYS ON EARTH
WAS JUST A FLEETING FANTASY THAT NEVER HELD MUCH WORTH
TO YOU WHO KILLED THE DREAMS OF ONE WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVED
AS I SWALLOWED ALL THE POISONED PILLS THAT YOU’D SO KINDLY LEAVE

Touch a Tear

Touch a tear that trickles with a lonely fingertip

Taste the salt upon your tongue with parted honey lip

Walk a dusty trail my love as thought returns to me

If you should tire a spring awaits beneath the banyan tree

You’ll hear the music of my voice whisper in its leaves

As sacred prayers we two had shared float upon the breeze

The rhythm of the drums that beat within our dance of love

Reverberates within your head and all you’re thinking of

Is holding me within your arms so tight no room for air

No space could get between us two as we are standing there

As rains fall down to beat the ground and make the lily bright

Heaven heard your solemn vow and brought your wish tonight
