In a Patch o’ Pumpkins

Cinderella’s sittin’ in a patch o’ pumpkins

Tryin’ real hard to think of somethin’

Thoughts danglin’ from the edge of trees

In the back of her mind but all she sees

Are worn out clothes and broken dreams

A lonely girl fallin’ apart at the seams

She takes a sip from her hard cider

Looks up at a sky that’s not much wider

Than any possibility

That any man could ever see

A girl like her with nothin’ to give

But a big desire to want to live

Inside the heart of her Prince Charming

A little bird sings and it’s alarming

That on his solitary perch

He hasn’t flown away to search

For a little bird named Cinderella

Who’s lookin’ for a special fella

To sing a tune that’s meant for two

She’s all alone and feelin’ blue

Gazing at the pretty leaves

High on the branches of a tree

And wishin’ on the Morning Star

Wonderin’ where on earth you are

Yeah, Cinderella sits in a patch o’ pumpkins

Tryin’ real hard to think of somethin’

That a girl like her could do

To make the Evening Star find you
