My Mind is Frozen

I can’t thaw my frozen mind

Every crevice is saturated

With shards of icy pain

Tiny slivers of splintered agony

Pulsate with each inhalation

As hollow haunted breaths

Emit isolated puffs of memory

From dark and distant corridors

Where fingertips of apparitions

Clench madly at my being

Embedded within the drifts

Of recollection’s wasteland

  2. Wow! Kay, this is great. I can relate to this so much. It’s like when I had my most damaging MS attack. My mind couldn’t think straight at all. Words came out backwards, I couldn’t connect two thoughts together, short-term memory loss – I thought that I had a stroke at first. It was awful! Thanks for sharing this with me! Blessings 🙂

    • Thank you, Terri. I have a close friend with MS. It is wonderful that you’ve made a connection with my words. Words are so incredibly powerful. Writing is a wonderful forum in permitting others to know they’re not alone in all aspects of life.

  4. A powerful piece with its imagery. A mind frozen. As someone who is in perpetual pain, I really identify with this and if this is you, then, I feel for you, too. Lovely prose.

  6. This is extremely vivid, it has a very haunting feel to it, yet beautiful.

“Where fingertips of apparitions / Clench madly at my being” – this part has really stuck in my mind

Is this about yourself? I ask because it reminds me of my own experience and a poem of my own.
