Cinderella Dreams

Mama’s little baby girl comes running down the hall

With plastic slippers that won’t fit on little feet so small

She has lipstick on her face and milk stains on her chin

Pulling at the ruffled hem from the too big gown she’s in

Climbing high on my big bed to powder up her nose

Begging me to put some pink nail polish on her toes

She has Cinderella dreams and a dimple in her chin

A hug that sends me to the moon and takes me there again

Eyes so full of stars because she fell from heaven’s sky

She’s everything that’s beautiful and I can’t help but cry

I pull her close to smell her hair and gently kiss her head

The entire world’s a fairytale upon that great big bed

She then becomes a princess and I her mother queen

Residing in a castle filled with gumdrops and ice cream

Where storybooks and nursery rhymes come to life each day

Everything’s so easy as we play each day away

I’ll love you yes for always and I’ll never let you go

I promise I won’t leave you Mama how I love you so

But this big world has captured you and taken you away

Now somehow you’ve forgotten all the lovely things you’d say

She has Cinderella dreams and a dimple in her chin

A hug that sends me to the moon and takes me there again

Eyes so full of stars because she fell from heaven’s sky

She’s everything that’s beautiful and I can’t help but cry

He’s taken her away from me and I don’t have a clue

Why he won’t say those little words like darling I love you

Tell her that she’s everything and more to him it seems

That he is not the prince inside her Cinderella dreams

Each night I take her picture down and gaze into her face

Her beauty grace and elegance my trembling fingers trace

Praying she will find the peace that only comes within

Knowing your true beauty is so far beneath your skin

But she has Cinderella dreams and a dimple in her chin

A hug that sends me to the moon and takes me there again

Eyes so full of stars because she fell from heaven’s sky

She’s everything that’s beautiful and I can’t help but cry
