I’d Fly to Where You Are
On the avenue among the crowd, I gather daisies close to me and think about your eyes of brown and just how great things used to be. The sky is dark as rain pours down; it stings my face as do my tears. I cry for you, I am so blue for want of all those missing years. If I had wings, I’d fly above the hurried mass that swallows me and fly above the cloudy skies to the place I want to be. I’d place these daisies in your vase and cook a meal fit for a king. We’d make sweet love until the dawn. I’d make you forget everything that broke your heart and made you cry, that took your love away from me. I’d wipe the teardrops from your eyes and hold your body close to me. If I could only catch the wind that blows beneath the yellow dome of this umbrella that I hold, I’d fly away into the home of you, my love. You’re in my heart, beneath this sky, within this crowd, and I would make you as my own. Yes, I would be so very proud.

When the fires of love are dampened the heart takes wings and soars above, searching for completion, yearning for perfection, and becomes eternally watching, like a lighthouse by the sea, waiting for that love to return. Your poem contains all the hopes of finding that love once again.

So passionate and loving, but it made me cry. I remember, before my mom went home to heaven how she would carry a book or a letter that my dad had sent her when they were dating and she’d stare up at the sky or look at what she held in her hands and there would be tears in her eyes, but a smile on her face. She always said that dad wasn’t really gone, because she would always have him in her heart. This piece made me remember her smile of joy as she thought about him. This was wonderfully powerful. Be blessed!

Love is the one thing that no one can take from us. It’s the most powerful force on earth and it goes on living forever. It shouldn’t make you sad because it fills the void of darkness, doubt, and fear. There are those who believe that fear is the absence of love. I also believe this. May you never know the absence of love.
