Sedona Selah

Rhymesalady, the Magpie sings

From lofty heights

Awaiting the spring

Of every wild imagining

Beyond the farthest wood

She dreams of desert dusts that stir

Inside the whirlwinds far from her

And magic mountain mysteries

Of vortex red that third eyes see

Where eagles soar so high above

Dispersing feathers bleeding love

To etch the ancient whispered words

Sent on wings of sacred birds

That circle ’round those skies of blue

Where the sun has burned the truth

The searing sun has burned the truth

The Courage to Hope

The Courage to Stand

I’ll stop drowning in my past
And swimming in tomorrow
Waiting for a sky that always falls
Yet if I live for just today
Today would be okay
If it were happy
But if it’s filled with pain
The thought would be insane
Because I’d wallow in the mire
Never holding the desire to dream
I must get up off my ass
Be grateful for what I have
And courageous enough to hope
For brighter days
I’ll make a plan to stand
With everything I am
Despite my imperfections
Recalling how I stood
When things were not so good
And how I rose above it all
No matter how very small
I seemed to feel
For when I knelt to pray
I made it through that day
With resolve again tomorrow
To put away my sorrow
And look up to the sun
Still shining on the one
Who failed to see
The roses still in bloom
With their sweet perfume
And the birds up in the sky
That did not forget to fly
And I with strength to stand
Upon my feet

Burst the Dormant Bud

Tree and it is lovely

For too long, this stoic tree stood barren
Longing for twigs of green to fill each bough
Deeply digging, with all her strength, into the earth
She begged the Sun to sprout each bud he had endowed
The soft Spring rain drenched her skin and quenched her thirst
And so she danced, when came the breeze, to show esteem
Toward the Sun, the gentle rains and Mother Earth
For she now wears the finest gowns of forest green

Floral Leaf

Floral Leaf

Gentle bud upon the green
Skin tight leaflets towering
With urgency to greet the sun
Unfolding petals one by one
Bringing forth a soft array
Of color on a springtime day
Embellishing each tender shoot
With promises of autumn fruit

Red Sun Rising

The red sun rises

Deep inside a purple sea

Silhouetting peaks

Emerging from indigo

Painting frozen hills crimson
